  • Pizza Lunch in the SPHere Lounge »

Jacob will be presenting on his collaborative work with the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety, Washington County Public Health, and the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District investigating tick-borne pathogen exposure risks among outdoor workers. Headshot of Jacob Cassens

Jacob Cassens

Learn more about Jacob Cassens

Jacob Cassens is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health studying tick and tick-borne pathogen biology and molecular epidemiology. Jake works in the Oliver Lab under Dr. Jon Oliver, researching novel surveillance strategies for real-time monitoring of known and putative tick-borne pathogens. Additionally, Jake collaborates with Drs. Christopher Faulk (CFANS) and Peter Larsen (CVM) to investigate tick and tick-borne pathogen genomics. Their work focuses on the molecular mechanisms ticks and tick-borne pathogens leverage to persist in seemingly unsuitable niches. Jake also collaborates with Drs. Bruce Alexander and Jeff Bender to understand tick-borne disease risks among occupationally exposed populations.
