Dr. John Fankhauser (MHA ’19) has been named chief executive officer of Ventura County Medical Center. According to an article in the Ventura County Star, Fankhauser is taking over the job of running the center and its affiliated Santa Paula Hospital immediately amid an effort to reverse financial problems in the system with large numbers of low-income patients. Ventura County Health Care Agency Director Bill Foley has projected that the two hospitals and associated medical clinics could lose $47 million without the launching of a strong turnaround plan in the next fiscal year.
