On the agenda for this event are Pecha Kucha (Japanese word for chit-chat) talks – a fast-paced, structured session that showcases how SPH faculty, staff, students, and alumni advance antiracism and health equity. Topics can be related to your research, community engagement, experiential learning, professional interests, SPAR initiatives, or avocations, and are a great way to become more familiar with colleagues and their experiences and interests.

The presenter has exactly 5 minutes, using exactly 20 PowerPoint slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. After one presentation is finished, the next one will begin right away.

2. Create and practice your talk on this slide template. Presentations must have 20 slides that auto advance every 15 seconds. Talk length is 5 minutes.
3. We’ll follow up with next steps if you’re selected as a speaker; we will host 1-2 practice sessions to help you create and practice your presentation.

• You submit your talk idea by September 1. 
  You’ve got a great idea for a talk? Wonderful. Submit your talk proposal via our online form. Write out as many specifics as you can. We realize you haven’t written the whole thing yet, so give us the thesis and the main highlights. Please submit your proposal by Friday, September 1.
• We review all submissions
  Our event planning team will carefully review every submission, score them, rank them, and select 8-10 talk ideas.
• Everyone gets a notification
  By September 6, the selected speakers and all non-selected submitters are notified.
• Three weeks to craft your talk
  If your talk is selected, you’ll have three weeks to compose your talk, create your slide deck, and practice practice practice.
• Deck deadline
  You’ll send us your slide deck by September 27. We need this time to set up our primary presentation files for the show, so this deadline is important.
• Showtime!
  On the day of the event, you’ll arrive at least an hour prior to showtime. Our event manager will greet you, show you around the backstage area, and ensure you’re comfortable and ready to do your thing.
