Happy First Generation Week! Over 10 percent of our SPH students and many of our faculty and staff are first-gen students, meaning they are among the first generation in their families to earn a four-year degree.
To celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our first-gen community, we are hosting a First-Gen Celebration this Friday, Nov. 10 at Coffman Memorial Union (CMU) from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. We’ll provide free lunch, activities, and an opportunity to participate in a raffle for first-gen swag! Register today.
Additional ways to get involved:
- Come early to cheer on first-gen student Jiuzhou Wang as he represents SPH in the university-wide 3MT competition at 10:00 a.m.!
- Join us for a First-Gen Group Photo at 1:00 p.m. SPH will walk to the CMU Front Plaza together to join the UMN campus-wide group photo.
- First-gen students, staff, and faculty: Share your story and download zoom backgrounds or signs to celebrate this occasion.
- Check out all of the events happening across the University for First Gen Week.
