Mary El-Afandi (she/her) is the current SPH tutor. She is a recent graduate of the School of Public Health, earning an MPH in Community Health Promotion, with a minor in Epidemiology

The SPH Tutor serves as a free and neutral point of contact for any SPH student seeking academic assistance in a PubH course. The SPH Tutor is primarily focused on supporting students with Epidemiology concepts, but can also serve as a resource for other PubH courses, as well as help with general study strategies. The tutor can provide direct support, where possible, and can refer students to additional resources, if needed.

The SPH Tutor will keep regular office hours throughout the Spring 2024 Semester. While these are subject to change based on scheduling need, anticipated office hours are: Tuesdays from 6-7 pm, Wednesdays from 7-8pm, and Fridays from 12-1 pm. The SPH Tutor website will be updated if/when these hours change. These are drop-in, informal office hours, so there may be a brief wait if the Tutor is assisting another student. Office hours will be held over Zoom, and can accommodate both individual and small group tutoring requests. Arrangements can also be made for those who prefer to meet in person. Absolutely! Both drop-in office hours and individual appointments will be available over Zoom for those who would like to meet remotely.

The SPH Tutor can help students with the course concepts and study strategies, but they cannot directly help with completing the homework itself.
