What does the SPH Tutor do?

The SPH Tutor serves as a free and neutral point of contact for any SPH student seeking academic assistance in a PubH course. The SPH Tutor is primarily focused on supporting students with Epidemiology concepts, but can also serve as a resource for other PubH courses, as well as help with general study strategies. The tutor can provide direct support, where possible, and can refer students to additional resources, if needed.

When is the SPH Tutor available?

The SPH Tutor will keep regular office hours throughout the Fall 2023 Semester. While these are subject to change based on scheduling need, anticipated office hours for September 2023 are: Mondays from 1-2pm, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm. The SPH Tutor website will be updated if/when these hours change. These are drop-in, informal office hours, so there may be a brief wait if the Tutor is assisting another student. Office hours will be held both in-person and over Zoom, and can accommodate both individual and small group tutoring requests. At this time, all in-person office hours will be held in the SPHere Lounge. For an alternative meeting location, please email sphtutor@umn.edu.

Can I meet with the SPH Tutor remotely?

Absolutely! Both drop-in office hours and individual appointments will be available over Zoom for those who would like to meet remotely.

Can the tutor help me with my homework?

The SPH Tutor can help students with the course concepts and study strategies, but they cannot directly help with completing the homework itself.
