Scholarships

Who is Eligible

Working professionals in the field of public health. Full and part-time students will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. This scholarship is intended for U.S. Citizens or individuals with a current student or work visa. Preference will be given to residents of Minnesota.

What is Covered

Tuition and Institute Fees up to $2,000 per academic graduate credit. The scholarship will cover 1 Graduate-Level Academic Credit. It does NOT cover professional continuing education contact hours.

Application Deadline

The application deadline is Friday, April 19, 2024. Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis until the maximum allowable for this year have been fulfilled.

Available Courses

Courses related to emergency preparedness and response, including virtual courses, will be available for scholarship applicants. In-person courses are held on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities West Bank campus. Online courses will require participants to attend during the scheduled dates and times as online courses are synchronous.

Week 1 (May 13- 17)

  • Walking through Fire: Crisis Leadership (Online)
  • Unique Public Health Aspects of Asian Health: Data collection through program implementation (Online)
  • Epidemiology of Foodborne Pathogens
  • Introduction to GIS
  • Public Health Law (Week 1 of 2) **If you choose Public Health Law, only one week will be covered by the scholarship, you will be personally responsible for covering the other week of the course.
  • Mycelial Leadership: Trauma-Informed Approaches for Thriving Team Ecosystems

Week 2 (May 20 – 24)

  • Field Epidemiology
  • Data Visualization in R
  • Principles of Risk Communication
  • Public Health Law (Week 2 of 2) **If you choose Public Health Law, only one week will be covered by the scholarship, you will be personally responsible for covering the other week of the course.
  • Racism and the pursuit of health equity: Moving from colorblind to race-conscious policies and practices

Week 3 (May 28 – May 31)

  • Planning for Urgent Threats (Online)
  • American Indian Health and Wellness, Understanding and Applying the “Other Public Health System” (Online)
  • Concepts in Disaster Behavioral Health (Online)
  • Providing Mental Health Support to Rural Communities (Online)
