Elizabeth-DoughertyElizabeth Dougherty’s field experience with LPHA provided a comprehensive view of Minnesota’s public health system and insight into the interactions between local health agencies and collaborations between local and state levels.

LPHA provides a number of services to local public health agencies across the state including policy and advocacy work, leadership and professional development for members and public health officials, and local public health resources and references.

“I have learned so much about the landscape of public health. This was an irreplaceable experience that advanced my knowledge of public health, enhanced the theories taught in courses within the school, and professionally advanced my career path,” notes Dougherty.

The experience also provided Dougherty with valuable opportunities to connect with public health leaders and expand her network in ways that would not have otherwise been possible.
